Ryan has a strong connection with Sefton Central having lived here his whole adult life and growing up across Sefton. Ryan has a vast knowledge of Ainsdale and knows what the residents' major issues and concerns are across the ward.
Having worked in politics across the North West, Ryan acknowledged what the issues are within Sefton's Labour ran council and understands how to challenge this. From being selected, Ryan has begun his campaign across Ainsdale taking the fight to Lynne Thompson the incumbent Liberal Democrat Ryan hopes to unseat in May.
Commenting on his selection Ryan said,
"It is a huge honour to be selected to stand in Ainsdale and be given the opportunity to represent the area during the local election campaign and hopefully as a councillor for Ainsdale. From the moment of being selected I began my campaign within the ward meeting immediately with Conservative Ainsdale Councillor Tony Brough to discuss my plan for the campaign across Ainsdale and I cannot wait to get out knocking on doors in the ward.
For 8 years we have had a Lib Dem Cllr within Ainsdale, a party with no true record in national politics nor local. That is why I'm asking the residents of Ainsdale to reconsider voting for a party with no true success locally or nationally and put their faith and trust back into the world's oldest democratic party with achievements locally and nationally spanning across decades. It is time Ainsdale gained the reputation it deserves within Council by electing another Conservative Cllr to truly stand up for the people of Ainsdale.
In Ainsdale, residents want us to be focusing on local issues which matter to them from ensuring our beach is maintained to securing road maintenance to supporting the restoration of Southport's pier. This is just a handful of what I plan to champion on as Ainsdale's second Conservative Councillor.
I will be working hard over the coming months to speak with and connect with as many local residents as possible before polling day in May."
Councillor Mike Prendergast, Leader of the Conservatives on Sefton Council said:
"Having worked with Ryan in politics across the North West, I can see he has a true passion for local politics within Ainsdale and Sefton. He is truly committed to campaigning for the people of Ainsdale and making sure their voices are heard in Sefton Council. Ryan would make an excellent addition to the Conservative Councillors and more importantly a great councillor within Ainsdale championing the views of local residents."
