Crosby Village
Three years after this Council spent £40,000 on a Planning Study into Crosby Village little has happened.
Some of the buildings on Moor Lane have been renovated by a private developer butthe Council played no part in this project. There are no plans for Telegraph House orthe former cottages site in Allengate and there has been no action on the Central Buildings site.
This Labour Council lacks commitment to bring together the various public and private sector agencies to regenerate the Village. Where are their proposals to use surplus land for much-needed affordable housing in the Village? The NHS wants to build a health centre in Crosby but why is this Council not working alongside them to help make this happen? Where is the plan to rationalise the traffic layout, parking arrangements, bus stops and taxi ranks?
The Conservative Government has launched its £675m Future High Street Fund. Councils can bid for grants under this scheme, providing they have a clear plan for their town centres and showing how they will involve the local community in their regeneration. There is no indication that Sefton’s Labour Council is committed to Crosby yet it will gladly borrow £32m to buy Bootle Strand.
Speaking this week Conservative Candidate for Blundellsands Martyn Barber said:"The Conservatives would actively work with other public, private and voluntary organisations to regenerate Crosby Village and produce an attractive and creative solution for the area, rather than sit on the sidelines as Labour are doing".
