Your local Conservative party recently asked Sefton Council to provide us with figures for additional capital grants during the years of 2002-2010, under the previous Labour administration.
Grant expenditure was as follows: Bootle received £164.1m, Southport £41m, whilst Crosby received a paltry £6.1m (Most of which was spent in Church ward, which is in the Bootle Constituency). With Maghull and Formby both receiving less than a million. We'd like to point out that now Labour has control of Sefton Council we very much fear that a similar attitude and outcome will beset Sefton Central taxpayers.
We Conservatives are very concerned that Sefton Central taxpayers will be fleeced by this Labour Council, and that whatever funding does become available will be spent in their traditional heartlands.
We Conservatives are not against funding being spent in Bootle and we recognise that certain areas of the Borough do require more funding than others - but not to such an extent. Conservatives want a fair share for all taxpayers across Sefton. The figures above prove that this was not the case.
A Labour run council will always cost the taxpayers of Sefton Central more!!
