Bidding and funding opportunities could help Crosby, Formby & Maghull
There is currently a plethora of national and regional focus on the challenges facing town centres and opportunities for funding to address those challenges.
For example, the £675m Future High Street Fund announced on 29th October 2018 can also be seen in the context of the Metro Mayor’s £5m Town Centre Fund and the Liverpool City Region’s Town Centre Commission , both announced 4th July 2018. There is also the City Region’s Single Investment Fund with £458m available until March 2021 and the £500m Strategic Investment Fund announced by Mayor Rotherham on 9th November 2018 . Additionally we have the Secretary of State’s Vision for High Streets, and the Open Doors Pilot both launched on 7th November 2018. We have also witnessed the MHCLG’s consultation launched on 29th October 2018 entitled: Planning Reform: Supporting the High Street and Increasing the Delivery of New Homes. Let us also not forget the Transforming Cities Fund for which the city region secured £134m in March 2018 and of course the more traditional Local Transport Plan funding.
Sefton Labour Council need to explain to taxpayers across the Borough why they have not taken advantage of any of the above funding channels and submitted bids on behalf of our communities.
Local Conservatives are convinced this is a political decision so Sefton Labour Council can cry poverty despite failing to apply for any external grants. They should be trying to help our communities and local businesses, instead of playing politics and trying to hoodwink local people.
