In January 2018 Sefton Council received a bid from a consortium of local business people to lease the former Carnegie Library and convert it into a restaurant and community hub.
This Council has dragged its feet by taking more than 12 months to evaluate the bid to re-use this building.
This Listed Building continues to deteriorate and repair costs are escalating. The Council continues to incur costs on the building’s security whilst losing potential business rate income.
Speaking today Martyn Barber,Conservative Candidate for Blundellsands said:"A Conservative Council would not allow precious buildings to deteriorate and stand empty and would work with community and voluntary groups and private business to find imaginative uses for our public assets".
