The lighting at Blundellsands & Crosby station subway is sub standard and must be upgraded. It is particularly dangerous for elderly residents of an evening. The footpath and lighting are the responsibility of Sefton Council but it would do Network rail no harm to work in unison with the council.
Plans were drafted over 2 years ago to upgrade the lighting using area committee delegated funding. However, since our Labour Council scrapped area committees (as they detest being challenged and held to account) we can no longer see how much funding remains or on what it has been spent.
The Labour Council should find the funds to carry out these much needed improvements, after all, they found £32,000,000 for the Bootle Strand, is it not about time Blundellsands & Crosby got its fair share of council support and attention.
