Conservative councillors in Blundellsands ward Peter Papworth and Sean Dorgan have initiated grants worth nearly £9000 for the benefit of the local community over the past twelve months.
Various projects have benefited from the area funding including over £1000 spent on replacements road signs, £2000 on replacement street trees, pruning and removal of dangerous trees. Nearly £1000 on new salt bins for the troublesome winter months. Contributions have also been made to the Fire Service Heritage Musuem, to the local Police force for Smart water signage, for new litter bins and for the clearing of fly-tipping in ditches.
Conservative leader Cllr Peter Papworth welcomed the improvements and also called on local residents to suggest ways in which the remaining £16,000 worth of area funding for Blundellsands could be spent.
Cllr Papworth said: "Although the pot of funding is only small it can bring tangible benefits and improvements to the Blundellsands ward. We cannot promise to implement every idea that comes forward but we are very much open to suggestions on how to spend the funding wisely for the benfit of the local community."
